when i play my monk without people i get bored fast, but when i play with people i have a new meaning in life, simply because they depend on me to help keep them a live, when i have hench the healer hench does that and i use my Ele side to nuke

i think the main problem with a monk with henchmen is when ever i take them with me that blasted healer always heals them just before i do... which makes my Mo side useless making me nuke

I prefer monk, myself, simply because I know I'm a good one, and it makes groups better. No matter how good I play a r/n, it won't make up for a terrible monk. Oh, and how is heal a little, toss some smite different than swing a little, use some adren? =P

I've been a monk in some terrible groups, and I've been a monk in some amazing groups.
I can tell you, it's with the amazing groups who communicate and have fun that you don't get bored or pissed at the people giving you gray hairs demanding to be kept at full health while they're not moving from being nearly completely surrounded by bigass enemies and having start-of-game armour.

it can also help based on your personal preferences. if you like more action, it may be wiser to be a less patient class like a warrior. however, the monk by definition is the kind of player designed for people who like helping others all the time.

I think the trick is to pick a secondary with some good offensive capabilities and using those throughout all of pre-Ascension. Then, you can switch to a full time Monk.

the weird thing is, when i was a low lvl nobody wants to group with me. now that im a higher lvl people keep on inviting me to join with them. if i ignore, they will call me out in public saying that ---- monks who needs them.

I like monking. But it's very hard to get out of the habit of not attacking... Stick with it and ignore the griefers. Once you get the hang of monking you will NEVER get people being an ass to you. By the time i got to Kryta I had people complimenting me all the time saying I was a good monk... and I didn't get it... I'm fighting with my nrg for the whole battle and things are always grim... The answer is this, most monks seriously suck. You don't realize this until you become a mediocre monk and people start calling you great.

edit: I've also noticed that as a monk my odds on getting into a group with monks is far higher... wtf? It was all a lie! There is no shortage of monks, they're all grouping together... I would have been looking for an hour for a monk with my fire ele and with my monk the first group I join already has two

also if you ever get bored of your monk
you could try a smiting monk. it is harder to
find a group that way because a lot of people
go when they see something else
then a healer monk. But it is a fun way to play a
monk none the less. Besides, one of my guild mates
is a smiter monk and you should see how he handles
the undeads in the Fissure. They dont seem to live long

I love playing a healing monk. I actually find it quite fun especially if the group is split up and i need to dodge in and out of enemies to try to save them, also people tend to sacrifice their lives for the monks. If i'm being attacked, i imediately run to nearest non monk to divert attention from me (not my problem if they die, better them than me, i expect the same to be done if i'm a warrior).

If anyone screams at me, because i have no more energy left to heal anyone - then i just stop healing them altogether. Also in the later missions, if i find someone isn't infused - no healing for them as well.

Bascially since the monk has so much power literally, to control life and death, and to cause annoyance to those who are dumbasses - it can be quite fun.

The idea of a more "exciting" secondary class might help you. In the early stages with my monk, I had a ranger secondary. It was great and relieved some of the boredom. You're absolutely right though: At lower levels, where monks were more common, I had a hard time getting PUG invites. So, consequently, I used henchies and my ranger skills a lot more.

Now that I'm in the RoF end of the game, I've zeroed out my ranger skills and am a full monk. I love it and it's much more exciting and challenging now that I KNOW I am an essential part of any team I'm on.
